Alice in Borderland season 3 cast and character guide: Who’s returning and who’s new

Based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, the narrative follows a group of regular people who gets transported to an alternate reality version of Tokyo City by mysterious entities. They are forced to compete in deadly games, surviving through which gives them a chance to return home.
The second season of the show was released in December 2022. In September 2023, the streaming giant announced that the show will return for a third season, helmed by director Shinsuke Sato. The release date of Alice in Borderland season 3 has been announced as September 25, 2025.
Netflix has also shared the synopsis for the new season, that reads:
“Arisu and Usagi cleared every card's game and returned to the real world. Now married, they lead a happy life, though their memories of the Borderland surface only in dreams and hallucinations. One day, Usagi suddenly vanishes. Guided by Ryuji, a man who studies the afterlife, she sets out for the Borderland. A devastated Arisu is visited by Banda, now a Borderland resident, who informs him of Usagi’s whereabouts. Arisu must now follow her back into inevitable danger to find her.”
Exploring the cast of Alice in Borderland season 3
Unfortunately for fans, only five cast members will be reprising their roles in Alice in Borderland season 3. They include Kento Yamazaki as Arisu, Tao Tsuchiya as Usagi, Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann, Hayato Isomura as Banda, and Katsuya Maiguma as Yaba.
Kento Yamazaki as Ryohei Arisu
One of the protagonists of the show, Arisu has done an excellent job staying alive through all the games despite lacking in real-world skills. He has lost friends and acquaintances during his stay in Borderland, and gone through personal hell himself. While he manages to return to the real world with the person he loves, his return to Borderland following the same person will be keeping the audience tethered to their seats in the final season. Kento Yamazaki, who plays Ryohei Arisu, is known for his work in projects such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable - Chapter 1 (2017), Orange (2015) and Heroine Disqualified (2015).
Tao Tsuchiya as Yuzuha Usagi
The other protagonist, Usagi survives through all the games along with Arisu, and their connection grows stronger with time. After they return to the real world, Usagi and Arisu do not remember their time in Borderland, but the star crossed lovers do find each other. The trailer of season 3 suggests that the two are engaged. Usagi will be returning to Borderland in the final season, and Arisu will follow her. Tao Tsuchiya, who stars as Usagi, is known for appearing in projects such as Orange (2015), Yangotonaki Ichizoku (2022), and Erased (2016).
Ayaka Miyoshi as Rizuna Ann
A strong and determined woman, Ann has been one of the toughest contestants participating in the games in Borderland. Though she gets seriously injured during a game in the previous season, she manages to get back to the real world alive. The trailer of season 3 does not hint that Ann will return to the Borderland with Usagi and Arisu. However, she is still expected to help them as they are friends in real life. Ayaka Miyoshi, who plays Ann, is known for her roles in Confession (2010), Leaving on the 15th Spring (2013), and Sensei no Shiroi Uso (2024).
Hayato Isomura as Sunato Banda
Using his wit and cunning, Banda has managed to survive through all the games in the hellscape in the previous seasons. However, the shocker came as he decided not to leave Borderland in the end, hinting that he may have some nefarious plans to put to action. In the upcoming season, Banda may very well be seen in an antagonistic role. Hayato Isomura, the actor director who portrays the character on screen, has projects such as What Did You Eat Yesterday? (2021), and Kamen Rider Ghost (2015-2016).
Katsuya Maiguma as Oki Yaba
Yaba appears briefly on screen in season 2, clearing the Jack of Hearts game with methodical precision. Unafraid to make sacrifices, Yaba decides to stay back in Borderland along with Banda, and in exchange for some control. In the upcoming season, he is expected to have a hand in running the twisted games. Katsuya Maiguma, who plays Yaba, has previously appeared in Shoplifters (2018), Ken to Kazu (2015), and more.
New cast members of Alice in Borderland season 3
Netflix has announced the new cast members of Alice in Borderland season 3, but their roles are not disclosed as of writing. However, Kento Kaku is known to join as Ryuji, a researcher who takes Usagi back to the Borderland. The other new faces include Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, and Sakura Kiryu.
