Popular personalities have recently reacted after the news of Charlie Kirk’s death went viral. Notably, the political commentator was at Utah Valley University as part of participating in a debate when he was shot dead on September 10, 2025.
While the latest report started trending everywhere, Donald Trump expressed his grief during a conversation with Correspondent Jonathan Karl of ABC News.
“It’s horrific. It’s one of the most horrible things I’ve ever seen. He was a good man. He was an incredible guy. Nobody like him”, Trump said.
The President of the United States also wrote on Truth Social that Charlie Kirk, 31, was different from everyone else.
Trump mentioned that Kirk was admired by everyone, adding that he had the “Heart of the Youth” in the US. Trump additionally requested the general public to pray for Charlie.
Among Trump’s family members, his eldest son, Donald John Trump Jr., posted a lengthy statement on X.
Trump Jr. described Charlie as a friend, adding that Kirk was like a little brother to him and many others.
“He was one of the most courageous, principled men I’ve ever known, and he lived every day with purpose. His faith in God was unshakable, his love for Erika was inspiring, and the way he adored and cared for his two beautiful kids showed the kind of man he truly was”, Trump Jr. also wrote.
Former US President Barack Obama paid tribute on the same platform a day after Kirk’s demise. Obama wrote that he and Michelle would pray for Charlie and his entire family. He further stated:
“We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.”
Apart from politicians, several personalities from various fields shared their tributes on social media.
One of them was Rosie O’Donnell, who posted a photo of Charlie through her Instagram handle, seemingly expressing her criticism of violent acts.
Jimmy Kimmel also reshared a post from X on Instagram after Charlie Kirk’s death, where he said:
“Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”
Dr. Phil expressed his grief while speaking on an episode of his show The Real Story.
As per E! News, the episode aired the same day that Charlie was shot dead, and Phil said that Kirk’s “spirit, passion, and message will live on.”
He further stated that he will pray for Charlie and his family members.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris also paid tribute by saying that political violence will never be accepted in America. She referred to how Kirk was shot dead, as she wrote:
“I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”
While speaking to NBC News, a spokesperson for Utah Valley University said that the incident happened a few minutes after Charlie Kirk started speaking.
The shots were reportedly fired from a building located close to the institute.
As per the BBC, two individuals were allegedly taken into custody and later released as they were not linked to the matter.
However, the authorities have confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
