This year’s series of Big Brother UK features 16 housemates, including three late arrivals. Contestants face weekly evictions, live tasks, and challenges while the public votes to determine who remains in the house.

The winner of Big Brother UK 2025 will receive a cash prize of £100,000, as confirmed by the show ahead of the live finale.

The final will see a reduced number of housemates competing for the title, with the public ultimately deciding the winner during the live broadcast.

ITV has not yet announced the exact date of the 2025 final, but it is expected to take place in November.

    Contestant entry and eviction process

The 2025 series of Big Brother UK began with 16 housemates entering the house, three of whom arrived after the initial launch.

The rules allow for immediate evictions in certain circumstances, including rule violations. In previous weeks, one contestant was evicted hours after entering the house, while another left due to breaking house regulations.

Evictions are determined by a combination of public voting and Big Brother tasks, which can influence the remaining prize fund.

Housemates are interviewed by hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best upon leaving the house to discuss their time in the competition.

    Determining the winner

The public decides the winner of Big Brother UK through live voting during the finale. Housemates face a series of eliminations leading up to the final, typically leaving three to seven contestants in the last stage.

Hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best conduct interviews with the remaining contestants before the winner is announced. The show operates under a strict format where the audience votes, and the contestant with the highest number of votes receives the full prize fund, unless prior tasks have altered it.

The final also includes live evictions and on-camera interviews with housemates as part of the broadcast.

    Prize history and variations

The cash prize for Big Brother winners has varied since the show’s inception. Craig Phillips, the first winner, received £70,000. Subsequent winners in the next four series received the same amount.

Season five saw a reduction, with Nadia Almada awarded £63,500. The prize dropped to £50,000 in series six before returning to £100,000 for the following three seasons.

Series 10 featured a lower prize of £71,320, and from series 11 onward, the prize has remained at £100,000. Series 16, known as Big Brother: Timebomb, included challenges affecting the prize fund, with Chloe Wilburn winning £116,100, the highest in the show’s history.

Some portions of the prize fund in certain series can be modified by tasks and challenges during the housemates’ stay.

In 2024, Ali Bromley won Big Brother UK, taking home £90,000. The amount was reduced from the original prize due to prior eviction tasks affecting the prize fund.

Ali was given 51.9% of the public vote and was thus declared the winner at the live finale. Runner-up Marcello Spooks came second, while the other finalists were Emma, Hanah, Segun, and Nathan, who had already been evicted from the house.

The 2024 series was in line with the usual format of public voting, live interviews, and prize fund changes decided by challenges accomplished in the house.

The 2025 series is still following the traditional Big Brother format with 16 contestants who are to compete for several weeks. The eliminations will be decided by a live public vote, and the winner will receive the £100,000 cash prize, which is subject to any prize fund changes through in-house tasks.
