Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's eldest son, Tyler Boebert, has received a citation related to child abuse. Citing records at the Windsor Police Department, Westword reported that Tyler received the charge over an incident involving his son on Friday, July 11, 2025.

While the exact details remain unclear, a court summons noted it stemmed from "criminal negligence where no death or injury occurred." In a statement made to the outlet, Lauren explained that it was a "one-time incident," asserting that "injury or physical abuse" was not involved.

She also noted that her family met with Child Protective Services.

Tyler Boebert is the eldest amongst the congresswoman's four sons. According to People magazine, Lauren announced she was going to be a grandmother during a Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in March 2023.

Tyler, 17 at the time, welcomed his son a month later, according to People magazine. He is set to appear in court on September 8.

This is not Tyler Boebert's first run-in with law enforcement

In a statement made to People magazine, Lauren Boebert, the congresswoman, downplayed the incident involving Tyler Boebert. She explained.

"Unfortunately, this event stems from a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house."

She continued to note that Tyler had been "doing a great job getting his life on track as a father and citizen over the past year."

This is not Tyler Boebert's first run-in with law enforcement. Last February, the Rifle Police Department in Colorado arrested him for a string of property thefts and vehicle trespasses.

The felony charges included four counts of criminal possession of ID documents with multiple victims and a count related to committing a felony. Further, he also faced 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offense charges.

At the time, in a written statement, Lauren told People magazine her son had been through some "very difficult, public challenges" and was subject to attention he "didn't ask for."

Noting that he needed to be held accountable for his actions, she continued:

"It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him."

Tyler Boebert eventually pleaded guilty to a count of attempted identity theft in October. The rest of his charges were dismissed. Courts sentenced him to a 24-month probation.

In January 2024, cops arrested Lauren's ex (and Tyler Boebert's father), Jayson Boebert, for misdemeanor assault, criminal mischief, and other charges.

According to CBS News, the arrest stemmed from two separate incidents. One involved an alleged altercation with Lauren at a restaurant. Another involved him reportedly throwing Tyler's phone across the house and pushing him to the ground. Jayson eventually posted bond and was released, according to the outlet.

According to the NY Post, in September 2022, Tyler flipped his father's SUV, leaving the passenger with multiple concussions and severe lacerations.

He faced charges related to reckless driving, but Garfield County prosecutors dropped them due to the vehicle having "defective" headlights.

Lauren and Jayson were married for almost twenty years before filing for a divorce in May 2023. They share four sons—Tyler, Brody, Kaydon, and Rom.
