On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Wendy and Eddie Osefo, were arrested in Carroll County, Maryland, on multiple charges related to allegations related to lying about their 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom, $1 million home burglary in 2024.
The charges include felony counts of insurance fraud, misdemeanor conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and making false statements to law enforcement officers. Each felony count carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison, while misdemeanor counts may result in up to one year of imprisonment.
The couple reported about 80 items of jewelry, luxury goods, clothing and shoes stolen, a total loss of more than $200,000, as per the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. They also filed three insurance claims for the alleged losses suffered while they were away.
However, investigators found no signs of forced entry or physical evidence of a burglary. Additionally, some of the items reported as stolen were later found in the couple's possession or had been returned to stores for refunds before the alleged burglary.
A key piece of evidence was a photograph of Wendy wearing a diamond anniversary band on her left hand before the reported burglary. Despite claiming the ring was stolen, she was seen wearing it again after the incident.
After their arrests, both Wendy and Eddie were released on $50,000 bail each on Friday. They are scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on November 7, 2025. The couple issued a public statement thanking the people for their love and support saying,
"Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead."
Wendy joined as the cast member in The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5. She shares three children with husbnd Eddie: Karter, Kruz, and Kamrynn.
