Comedian Anthony Anderson, best known for his role on the sitcom Black-ish, recently addressed inappropriate comments made to Lindsay Lohan back in 2003. This comes as a clip showing him asking a 17-year-old Lohan about her dating life on The Sharon Osbourne Show began circulating online.
Notably, during the interview, in response to the actress saying she was a minor, Anderson, then 33, stated:
"Some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them."
As the comedian garnered backlash online for his remarks, a spokesperson for Anderson told Entertainment Weekly:
"This interview was clearly intended as comedy. He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay."
Per the rep, implying otherwise was "inaccurate" and "potentially defamatory."
The interview in question happened back in December 2003. At the time, Anthony Anderson was filling in for Sharon Osbourne for her namesake talk show, with Lindsay Lohan as the guest. Anderson can be seen questioning the actress about her home life, to which she explained she had bought a home with her friend Raven-Symoné (of That's So Raven fame).
The pair then discuss her and Raven-Symoné's individual styles and decor aesthetics. Lohan points out their rooms were completely different; she liked pink, while her friend liked darker colors. But added that they never "(went) at each other over it. Anderson then asked Lindsay Lohan:
"What gentlemen will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné?"
The Freaky Friday star explained that it would be "no one," as she was not dating anybody. This prompted the comedian to remark, "She's single, but looking!" Lohan then clarified that she was a minor. In response, Anthony Anderson stated:
"Some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them."
Both he and the audience then laugh.
According to Entertainment Weekly, elsewhere during the interview, the comedian segued into a commercial break by stating he and Lindsay Lohan were "about to get (their) freak on." He moved closer to the actress on the sofa and proceeded to put his arm around her, before the clip ended.
At the time, Lindsay Lohan was celebrating the success of her comedy, Freaky Friday (August 2003). During the interview, Anthony Anderson praised her work in the movie.
Lohan is set to star in the film's sequel, Freakier Friday, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. The old clip resurfacing can be attributed to the latter film. Freakier Friday is scheduled release next month.
During her March 2024 interview with Bustle, Lindsay Lohan explained that public scrutiny surrounding her private life made her step away from the limelight. She stated:
"I feel like some of (my work) got overshadowed by paparazzi and all that kind of stuff when I was younger, and that’s kind of annoying," adding, "I wish that part didn’t happen."
Notably, Lohan boasted a successful career in the early 2000s, starring in hit films like Mean Girls. However, towards the end of the decade, her career was marred by personal struggles, including rehab stints.
In the years since, Lindsay Lohan married Bader Shammas, and they share a son, Luai. She also made her acting comeback in the Netflix film Falling for Christmas in November 2022.
