What is the horror film Weapons all about?

A snippet from the trailer for Zach Cregger's Weapons.

The trailer begins with a kid narrating in the background while cops show up at a house. The narrator says,

“This is a true story, that happened in my town. So, this one Wednesday is like a normal day for the whole school…but today, was different,”

As soon as the narrator finishes her statement, ominous music starts playing in the background. All the classes had their kids present, attending their lectures, except for Mrs. Gandy’s class. A short-haired blonde teacher, known as Mrs. Gandy, enters an empty classroom. The narrator then explains why the classroom was empty:

“Because the night before, at 2:17 in the morning, every kid woke up...got out of bed...walked downstairs...and into the dark. And they never came back,”

The clip then shows parents gathered around in a hall where Archer Gaff questions aggressively why the kids from just Mrs. Gandy’s classroom had disappeared. The parents harassingly question her, and then Principal Andrew suggests that she should take some time away from the school. The trailer quickly escalates the horror in the clip by showing a dream sequence in which Mrs. Gandy walks into a classroom filled with her kids who are resting their heads on the table. One of the kids creepily lifts his head and puts on a clown-like smile. Mrs. Gandy snaps out of the dream and wakes up completely horrified.

The trailer then shows Archer and Mrs. Gandy both trying to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of those kids. The trailer then shows multiple scenes of kids behaving in a possessed manner, which is seemingly a scary sight for the viewers. It repeatedly shows the kids running in an unconscious state with their arms out wide like they are imitating an airplane. In the clip, police officer Paul tries to chase down a kid in his car, but she runs into a vehicle crossing the light, a terrifying moment to watch. Towards the end, the clip shows several moments of characters behaving in a possessed manner, which also included a woman stabbing herself repeatedly. In the end, an unknown house is shown in the dark with the door opening slowly, and the narrator adds:

“This is where the story really starts,”
