    The actress leaves behind her children—Amy, Katie, and David—and eight grandchildren. Her legacy includes her commitment to art and love for her family.

    Priscilla Pointer's cause of death explored

    David confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the actress passed away on Monday at an assisted living facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

    Amy Irving paid tribute to her mother on Instagram saying,

    "Priscilla Pointer, acclaimed stage television and film actress, and mother of David, Katie, and Amy Irving, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 100, hopefully to run off with her 2 adoring husbands and her many dogs. She most definitely will be missed."

    Victoria Principal said in a statement,

    "Priscilla Pointer, my favorite TV mama & a wonderful woman, passed away today. My sincere condolences to Amy Irving & all of Priscilla’s family. Always a special place in my heart. RIP 

    Priscilla Pointer early life and career

    Priscilla Pointer was born on 18 May 1924 in New York City. She is a child of very artistic parents. Her mother Augusta Leonora Davis was an artist and illustrator and her father Kenneth Keith Pointer was also an artist. Also out of her mother’s side one of her great grandfathers, Jacob Barrett Cohen, was from a Jewish background and has been in the U.S. since the 1800s. In May 2024 Pointer celebrated her 100th year.

    Pointer began her acting in the 1940s which she built up in the theater. She performed on Broadway and in national tours which are the settings of famous productions like A Streetcar Named Desire, The Country Wife, and The Condemned of Altona. Also, she was on TV in 1954 in China Smith.

    On-screen, the actress truly made her mark by infusing her characters with depth and emotion. Notably, she portrayed the mother of her real-life daughter, actress Amy Irving, in films like Carrie (1976), Honeysuckle Rose (1980), and Carried Away (1996). The two also shared the screen in The Competition (1980) and Micki Maude (1984).

    Pointer's film career spans more than just family projects. She played parts in The Onion Field (1979), Mommie Dearest (1981), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Blue Velvet, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). She also showed up in films her son directed such as Rumpelstiltskin, Good-bye, Cruel World, and C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D.
