With no family members able to donate, Owen’s mom, Natalie, chose to give her kidney, even though she was pregnant. With that, Owen’s surgery was successful, and Will even pushed ahead with his idea of adopting Owen legally. 

There was also another case that Frost and Lenox dealt with. The case was about Julian, a brain-dead patient. His parents wanted to take his sperm to have a grandchild, against his partner’s wishes. Doctors –Frost and Lenox– tried to stop them. In the end, the court sided with Julian’s partner, and his parents were not allowed to retrieve the sperm.
