The July 8, 2025, episode of My Big Fat Fabulous Life followed Whitney Way Thore as she took a significant step toward parenthood. In a clip shared ahead of the episode, Whitney underwent artificial insemination and described it as the “most intentional act” she had ever taken to try to conceive. With her friend Ashley by her side,

“It was all fun and games when Ashley walked in with a rubber turtle, but now things are getting really real.”

As she prepared to inseminate herself, she added,

“That’s crazy, but there’s no going back now.”

Earlier in the season, Whitney had opened up about her past fertility challenges. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which led to a false pregnancy in 2016. She previously froze her eggs in 2021 and again in 2024.

Without a partner, Whitney said she wanted to pursue motherhood on her own. The season premiere on July 1 showed her beginning of the donor search process. The new episode captured her moving forward with that plan, highlighting the choices she made to try and become a parent.

In the July 8 episode of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Whitney went ahead with at-home artificial insemination, supported by her friend Ashley. Before the procedure, she said:

“It was one thing to have my eggs frozen, and this is another. This is actually the most intentional act that I’ve ever done to try and get pregnant in my life.”

After receiving a womb wash, she shared that the situation felt very real and admitted:

“I’m probably nervous, like I don’t know. I’m about to inseminate myself and hope that I get pregnant.”

Although Ashley stayed by her side, Whitney expressed that going through the moment alone felt unusual.

“It feels weird that I’m doing it alone,” she said.

Despite those feelings, she remained focused on what she wanted. The episode showed her commitment to the decision, with no emphasis on whether the outcome would be successful. It marked a personal step for Whitney as she continued navigating motherhood on her own terms.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney searched for a donor based on health and values

In the season 13 premiere of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Whitney began her search for a sperm donor. She was shown sitting with friends, browsing through donor profiles and filtering them by preferences like hair colour and height. In a confessional:

“My criteria for a donor, I feel like, is pretty straightforward and simple. I absolutely do not care what color this child is, what color the eyes are, the hair is. Obviously I want the person to be healthy with no genetic diseases,” she said.

In another interview at the time,

"So, it's just kind of a hard thing to face when you feel like you're running out of time," she said.

Whitney compared the selection process to online dating, saying it felt like “a dating app on steroids.” She also considered intellectual qualities, asking, “How many books has he read?”

The premiere showed how seriously she took the process, not just medically but also emotionally. The following episode continued that focus, showing how she turned her plans into action.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life star also talked about timing and how being single influenced her choices. Whitney said she didn’t want to keep waiting for the perfect situation and was ready to move forward alone.
