Through the experiment, she became attached to Patrick Suzuki, and an engagement was formed. But having encountered Patrick personally, Kacie felt that he was a "stranger in [her] arms," leading her to question the authenticity of their connection.

She explained that he was somehow a “stranger in [her] arms” and that despite the sudden attraction having become an important element, she never meant to go with it all the way and hoped to develop their relationship a bit more gradually off-camera.
Though, she meant otherwise, the split up was depicted as sudden and emotional, which caused confusion and critics among people.
Kacie justified her moves by saying that she was attempting to save Patrick his feelings and that she did not make the choice based on his looks but rather by the understanding that there was not as much depth to their relationship as she had originally believed.
Her relationship with Patrick after the show was a subject of interest to the people.
She eventually shared that she had tried to communicate with him on returning to Denver and that she wanted to carry on with their relationship.
In the reunion episode, Patrick claimed to have not seen or heard of Kacie since they left the show and that Kacie asked him to declare their break up.
He also claimed that she did not send the engagement ring back.
Kacie came out later with her side, indicating that she had already contacted Patrick and wanted to revive their relationship.
Communication however failed when he soon on demanded the ring back and she found that to be hurting.
She also divulged that she was possibly the second choice Patrick made after finding out more about his relationship with another competitor, Anna Yuan.
