General Hospital, one of the longest-running soap operas in American television history, has been home to many intriguing characters. Set in the fictional town of Port Charles, New York, several characters have come and gone in the soap opera. Yuri, portrayed by actor Cyrus Hobbi, is an important character on the show.

Since his appearance in 2021, Yuri quickly became a memorable figure, although for a brief on-screen appearance. Despite his limited appearance, Yuri's character has been involved in key storylines, particularly connecting the Cassadine family. His character had an upgrade from a bodyguard to a primary figure in the General Hospital storyline.

The Man who played Yuri on General Hospital

Yuri is played by actor Cyrus Hobbi, who first appeared as Yuri on April 13, 2021. His character, a former WSB agent, was hired by Valentin Cassadine to protect Brook Lynn Ashton, leading to a series of dramatic interactions. From the beginning, Yuri was shown as a loyal bodyguard.

Yuri became more involved when Valentin moved him into the Quartermaine mansion for Brook Lynn. Brook was hiding her pregnancy, pretending and secretly plotting to switch babies. Over time, Yuri became a familiar face within the General Hospital universe.

Throughout his tenure on the show, Yuri was also seen in a more personal light. His friendship with Dr. Terry Randolph began after the two had a somewhat magical encounter at a picnic in the summer of 2022. Despite their early connection being influenced by a love potion, Yuri and Terry’s bond grew, and they were seen attending various events together, including Curtis Ashford and Portia Robinson’s wedding.

Initially, he was a bodyguard, hired by Valentin to protect Brook Lynn Ashton. Yuri's life was going through a hard phase following his bond with Brook Lynn Ashton. Valentin hired Yuri to keep her safe after he found out she was pregnant with his child. But Brook Lynn often found ways to get away from his jurisdiction. Yuri stayed focused on his work despite the issues going on in his life. Valentin was unhappy since he failed to take control of Brook Lynn.

Yuri's character became dicey. In the summer of 2022, his relationship with Terry Randolph grew stronger. At first, their relationship was just a flirtation. However, the time they spent together made their bond more serious.

By 2023, Yuri had become a butler at the Quartermaine mansion to stay close to the family he had come to protect. In this role, he remained an add-on in the drama surrounding the Quartermaines, especially when it came to Brook Lynn. His loyalty stayed uncompromised.

Yuri still looked out for and protected the Quartermaine family apart from his relationships. On January 16, 2025, Yuri was assigned the responsibility of guarding Monica Quartermaine and her great-grandchildren, Wiley and Amelia Corinthos.

It came as a response to legal measures initiated by Diane Miller, following a situation where Michael revealed that his estranged wife, Willow, had taken Wiley to Washington, D.C., without his consent. They stayed in a hotel during Drew Quartermaine's swearing-in ceremony, where they also visited him. After Michael sustained injuries, Diane informed Carly Spencer and Josslyn Jacks that Michael had served Willow with divorce papers while she was with Drew, and she sought guidance from Carly on the next steps concerning Michael's children.
