Who plays Britt Westbourne on General Hospital? Meet the actress behind the character

On General Hospital, Dr. Britt Westbourne, MD, came back on December 8, 2017. Though she had a complicated background owing to her birth ties to a villainous family, she became a fan-favorite character.

The highly acclaimed role of Britt Westbourne is portrayed by Kelly Thiebaud. Over the years, Britt's storyline on General Hospital has changed subtly from a villainous daughter of supervillains to a lonely soul trying to find redemption and meaning in her life.

To note, Britt made several notable returns to General Hospital. On December 8, 2017, she returned after a crime at the Metro Court Hotel, involving her father's men, and turned herself in to the police. She reunited with her brother Nathan, learned of his impending fatherhood, and gave him advice. 

In 2018, Britt came back to the show as she turned up in Pentonville after her mother, Liesl’s, arrest, and later left Port Charles to start a new life. Her return was followed by the appearance of a man resembling her late brother, Nathan. 

The real woman who played Dr. Britt Westbourne on General Hospital, Kelly Hager Thiebaud

Kelly Hager Thiebaud was born on August 28, 1982, in El Campo, Texas. Not just as an American actress and model, she is mostly popular for Britt Westbourne on General Hospital since 2012. Her performance brought a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2022.

Thiebaud’s acting career began in 2002 with a debut in the film Journey of Redemption. She also appeared in several TV shows like Chuck, Castle, and Criminal Minds, and had recurring roles on The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Days of Our Lives. Additionally, she modeled and appeared in music videos for David Guetta in 2007-2008.

Though she joined General Hospital in 2012, Thiebaud's status fluctuated between recurring and contract roles. She left the show in 2014 to pursue other opportunities. Then the actress returned for several guest appearances. She even received the honor of a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2023. Thiebaud also starred in Lifetime films and had a recurring role on Station 19.

In her personal life, Thiebaud was previously engaged to her General Hospital co-star Bryan Craig, but they separated in 2016.

Britt’s relationship with her mother, Liesl, was not as easy as that of a normal mother and daughter.

Though he was killed later, the bond she shared with Nathan was stronger. The sadness she felt after his death had a big impact on her life.
