The recent episode of The Young and the Restless left fans shocked as they witnessed the death of Chance Chancellor, played by Conner Floyd. Reason behind why Chance is leaving The Young and the Restless

Chance’s exit from The Young and the Restless left the fans disheartened, especially after Conner Floyd’s announcement that he would be transitioning to Days of Our Lives. It was confirmed in July 2025 that Floyd would take over the role of Chad DiMera (previously held by Billy Flynn). With this episode, Chance’s time in Genoa City came to an end.

On the July 28 episode, Chance's character died while trying to keep Cane Ashby safe from Carter's deadly threat. Chance bravely stepped in to help as the battle was going on. His attempts were in vain, though, because Carter shot and killed him during the fight.

Conner Floyd reflected on his time portraying Chance, expressing his gratitude to the Y&R team and fans. Floyd shared in a heartfelt Instagram post on July 28, 2025. It stated,

"It’s been real GC. What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard-working actors, creatives and crew members. This is without a doubt a special place."

He further mentioned,

"I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me. Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out."

Chance’s role on The Young and the Restless

Phillip Robert “Chance” Chancellor IV made his debut on The Young and the Restless in 2021, after taking the role from Donny Boaz. As the son of Nina Webster and Phillip Chancellor III, he had a complex backstory. It included his estranged relationship with his father and his involvement in law enforcement. His character changed from a soldier to a detective as he got involved in relationships and career challenges in Genoa City.

Chance's persona was introduced with an emphasis on his family history, especially the Chancellor's fortune. Chance worked on high-profile cases as a detective. Soon, he became caught up in spectacular narratives, and he interacted with several characters, including Chloe Mitchell, Cane Ashby, and Lily Winters.
