Constance Wu, who had a Twitter meltdown in May in response to ABC's Season 6 renewal, will finally get her wish. Vulture reports that the cast and crew of the groundbreaking and longest-running Asian-American comedy were informed this week that ABC will not order any more episodes beyond this season. Fresh Off the Boat will conclude with an hour-long finale on Feb. 21. “We couldn’t be prouder of this game-changing show and the impact it has had on our cultural landscape,” said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke in confirming the cancelation. “The success of Fresh Off the Boat has helped pave the way for inclusion throughout the industry. Nahnatchka Khan and her brilliant creative team have created an unforgettable series with an Asian-American family front and center, something that hadn’t been done in two decades. The cast, led by Randall Park and Constance Wu, is one of the finest and funniest on television. We’ll miss the Huang family and are eternally grateful for the incredibly heartfelt stories they have told these past six seasons.” Vulture's Maria Elena Fernandez reports: "As the show’s ratings declined in recent years, ABC moved Fresh Off the Boat from its Tuesday night family block to a revived TGIF block on Fridays, but that hasn’t improved its performance." Fresh Off the Boat, loosely based on celebrity chef Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name, premiered in February 2015 as the first broadcast sitcom about an Asian-American family since Margaret Cho's ABC sitcom All-American Girl in the 1994-95 season. Fresh Off the Boat is set to finish with 116 episodes. ALSO: Producers reportedly pushed to end Fresh Off the Boat so they'd have time for a proper goodbye.
