ABC shoots down conspiracy theories that Whoopi Goldberg is the surprise Oscars host

Goldberg's recent absence from The View due to a battle with pneumonia has fueled online rumors that she'll emerge Sunday as host of the 91st Academy Awards. An ABC spokesperson, however, tells TVLine that the rumor is “absolutely false.” Joy Behar addressed the “conspiracy theories on the Internet” at the top of today's The View episode, saying Goldberg is "not even well enough to host this show, much less the Oscars.”
