AMC renews The Walking Dead for Season 9 with a new showrunner, while promoting Scott M. Gimple

Gimple will oversee the entire Walking Dead franchise as chief content officer, while writer/co-exec producer Angela Kang will step up to become the executive producer and showrunner. Kang has been with the AMC seires since 2011, writing 20 episodes, including the accalimed “Coda” and “Still” episodes. Season 9 is scheduled to premiere in fall 2018.
