Kang, whose first TV job was as an intern on Grey's Anatomy, is now the fourth showrunner on the AMC series, which she has been working on since Season 2. Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman says Kang, who has written more than 20 episodes, "brings youthful vitality and energy. She has a great voice. We've definitely seen it shine through over various episodes over the seasons." Her predecessor Scott M. Gimple adds: "The newness of the narrative is driven by her vision. She's putting different things forward that we haven't seen before. But she's also been working on the show since season two. She knows it inside and out."
