Arturo Castro's sketch comedy series that debuted on Comedy Central last summer has been picked up for a second season on Quibi. Alternatino will still be produced and owned by Comedy Central Productions, Comedy Central's in-house studio, which is also behind Quibi's Reno 911! revival. Alternatino, which features Castro playing more than 40 characters, averaged 220,000 same-day viewers during its first season, with significant viewership growth in delayed viewing. "I’m thrilled to launch Alternatino in this exciting new platform while being able to remain a part of the Comedy Central family," said Castro of the move. "I’m also thrilled about the churro truck they offered as part of the deal. Thanks Quibi! Mmm … churros." ALSO: This marks the first time Quibi has picked up a series that was dropped by a linear network.
