Amazon has won the rights to develop Lee Child's Jack Reacher after beating competitive offers. Scorpion creator Nick Santora will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner on the TV adaptation of the Jack Reacher character from the Lee Child's bestselling book series. A Jack Reacher TV series was first announced last November. At the time, Child said he wanted the TV version of his character to be played by somebody who is the opposite of Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher movie portrayal -- an imposing, burly character like the one he created in the books. “I really enjoyed working with Cruise," Child told Deadline last November. "He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun. But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is… So what I’ve decided to do is – there won’t be any more movies with Tom Cruise. Instead we’re going to take it to Netflix or something like that. Long-form streaming television, with a completely new actor...We’re rebooting and starting over and we’re going to try and find the perfect guy.”
