Ruffin and Wilmore will host Peacock's first late-night shows, which will be paired together and will air weekly when they premiere in September. Late Night with Seth Meyers star Ruffin will host The Amber Ruffin Show, described as a “topical late-night show with just the good parts — the comedy.” Former Comedy Central The Nightly Show host Wilmore is returning to late-night in an untitled series featuring “real discussions with high-profile people from all different backgrounds including sports, politics and entertainment,” according to the official description. “Each episode will not only cover the election but will also engage in the important conversations of the week.” Wilmore's show has been picked up for 11 episodes, while Ruffin's talk show received a nine-episode order. “I’m honored to have the chance to not only be back on television but to partner with the great team at Peacock,” said Wilmore, whose Nightly Show was canceled four years ago this month in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election after two seasons. “Apparently there’s a lot going on in the world right now and a big election happening soon, so I’m happy to have a place in the conversation.” Ruffin added: “Having a late-night show on Peacock is so exciting! We can’t wait to write sketches, songs and jokes about this terrible time we call now!” Wilmore and Ruffin are calling it "a Late Night block FOR DAT ASSSS!!!!"
