Apple TV+ promises it'll have shows for "mature adults" containing naughty language

Last September, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook wanted Apple's new streaming service shows to be without violence, politics, foul language and risqué storylines. But Apple's Eddie Cue, who oversees Apple TV+, says in a new interview with British GQ that there will indeed be programming that isn't family friendly. Apple, he says, is “ultimately trying to create shows for everyone. So we have shows that are dedicated to small kids. And we have shows that are dedicated to mature adults. So we’re going to do a lot of different shows and what we’re going to do is hopefully create the best shows on TV.” He then referred to The Morning Show, starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. "It’s a show about women in the workplace and some of the issues that happen to them are definitely not appropriate for you to watch with an eight-year-old," he says. What wouldn’t be appropriate in that show? “The language," he says, adding that "there are other things. But I don’t want to spoil it." He also denied that he and Cook passed notes to Apple TV+ shows. “I saw the comments that myself and Tim were writing notes on the scripts and whatever,” says Cue. “There’s never been one note passed from us on scripts, that I can assure you. We leave the folks (alone) who know they’re doing.”
