In January, McGee, who played Angela Moore in the last two seasons of the ABC TGIF comedy, tweeted about a racially insensitive comment on set, remembering Will Friedle calling her "Aunt Jemima" while she was putting on makeup backstage. She also recalled the Boy Meets World stars greeting her with "blank cold stares." When she reunited with the cast for the Disney Channel spinoff Girl Meets World, McGee recalled Rider Strong trying to explain Friedle's comment as playful joking and prodding to get a rise out of her. “When I walked away from that experience, I got pissed again because I was like, What the hell?,” she says. “Years later, this is the explanation for it?” McGee now says after voicing her pain, she was able to have a healing conversation with Friedle in which he apologized. McGee also received an apology from Danielle Fishel, who last month was called out for her behavior after expressing her support for Black Lives Matter. "I owed @realtrinamcgee an apology for being rude, cold, & distant when she guest starred on GMW (her tweet regarding warm hellos being met with cold blank stares was about me)," Fishel tweeted. "Trina and I spoke over a month ago and she gracefully accepted my apology" However, McGee has yet to hear from Savage. “I do not talk to Ben Savage at all,” she says.
