Located a block from Cartoon Network Studios, Moore’s Delicatessen was frequented by members from the animated community, including employees at Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. and, of course, Cartoon Network. The deli's walls featured drawings from animators such as the late SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg. “I noticed that they were always doodling on the napkins,” said Robert Moore, the deli’s owner, who was forced to close the deli on Aug. 31 due to lack of business as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. “So I asked them — I bought them some Sharpies, and I said, ‘You guys draw on the wall, and then sign it and date it.’ And so that’s how it started.”
