To better compete with rival streaming services, CBS All Access is beefing itself up with an infusion of programming as it prepares for a rebrand in 2021. CBS All Access will add more than 3,500 episodes from ViacomCBS cable networks, including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and BET. Eventually, ViacomCBS plans to offer a library of 30,000 TV episodes and movies. The CBS All Access rebrand is expected to include a design refresh that emphasizes the different brands, but the price is expected to stay at $6 a month with ads. ViacomCBS chief digital officer Marc DeBevoise said the plan is to build out the new CBS All Access offering before launching the rebrand because "we want to have all the content in there." Not all the new programming will be exclusive to CBS All Access. ViacomCBS recently agreed to license a slate of movies and TV shows to NBC Universal's Peacock. “We’ll be the place for everything us,” says DeBevoise. “Others can add pieces of the library.” That means original Netflix series Avatar: The Last Airbender is also joining CBS All Access, even though it's already streaming on Netflix. According to Josef Adalian, "the refreshed All Access interface will take a cue from HBO Max and Peacock by introducing hubs devoted to various ViacomCBS brands. When users click on a CBS or BET or Smithsonian icon, they’ll be shown all the content from those networks. Among the new offerings on the expanded service are all seasons of Chappelle’s Show and Strangers with Candy, and six seasons of Reno 911! (Comedy Central); all seasons of Real Husbands of Hollywood and Single Ladies (BET); select seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Love & Hip Hop (VH1/Logo); all seasons of Laguna Beach and select seasons of Teen Mom 2, The Challenge and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation (MTV); and all seasons of Rugrats, Spongebob Squarepants and, as noted, Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon.)" ALSO: SpongeBob SquarePants prequel series Kamp Koral is moving from Nickelodeon to CBS All Access to bolster the rebranding.
