ViacomCBS confirmed that it is jumping on the "plus-sign" streaming service bandwagon. CBS All Access will become Paramount+ in early 2021, combining original content with shows from CBS and cable outlets MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Paramount Network and Nickelodeon. As part of the announcement, ViacomCBS revealed five new shows: The Offer, a limited series based on two-time Best Picture Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy's experience making The Godfather with Francis Ford Coppola and Robert Evans; a revival of The Game that was originally in the works at The CW; a reboot of VH1's Behind the Music titled MTV’s Behind the Music — The Top 40 that “will unlock MTV’s vault from the past 40 years for a unique and intimate look at the 40 biggest artists of all time, through their voices and their eyes"; The Real Criminal Minds, a true-crime series based on CBS' long-running drama Criminal Minds, which ended earlier this year; and Lioness, a spy drama from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan that “follows a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within.” “Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling,” ViacomCBS president and CEO Bob Bakish said in a statement. “With Paramount+, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy.”
