CBS is finalizing plans for a fourth NCIS spinoff that would take advantage of CBS Studios' extensive production base on the islands built Hawaii Five-0. Unlike spinoffs NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Hawai'i isn't expected to be a planted spinoff on one of the other NCIS series, but is expected to have an all-new team, reports Deadline. NCIS: Hawai'i is being developed by NCIS: New Orleans executive producers Christopher Silber and Jan Nash and SEAL Team writer-producer Matt Bosack. With Magnum P.I. currently shooting in Hawaii, the addition of NCIS: Hawai'i could create crossover opportunities between the two shows. NCIS: Los Angeles already did a crossover in Hawaii with Hawaii Five-0 in 2012. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, NCIS: Hawai'i is likely to have an easier time filming in Hawaii during the pandemic.
