The network has given a pilot order to a gender-switched reboot of the Kyle Chandler-led 1996-2000 CBS fantasy drama Early Edition, about a man who magically receives each Chicago Sun-Times newspaper the day before it is actually published, delivered by a mysterious tabby cat. He uses this knowledge to prevent terrible events every day. "In the rebooted version, an ambitious but uncompromising journalist starts receiving tomorrow’s newspaper today," per Variety. "She then finds herself in the complicated business of changing the news instead of reporting it." Hawaii Five-O and Leverage vet Melissa Glenn will lead the reboot. Created by Ian Abrams, Patrick Q. Page and Vik Rubenfeld, Early Edition also starred Shanésia Davis-Williams, Fisher Stevens, Kristy Swanson and Billie Worley.
