The Democratic presidential candidate discussed his lifelong love with Star Trek with The New York Times. He says he was first introduced to Star Trek by his late father, Cary Booker, one of the first black executives at IBM. Booker told TheTimes he's tried to bring the optimism and idealism of Gene Roddenberry to his campaign. Booker also considers Picard his favorite captain. "Besides his great haircut, I do love how profoundly intellectual he is and how reasoned and thoughtful," he says.
