Mason Alexander Park of the National Broadway Tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, who is nonbinary, will take on the role of Gren, who also uses they/them pronouns, in the live-action Netflix adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. "In the original anime, Grencia Mars Elijah Guo Eckener, nicknamed Gren, was a veteran of the Titan War who played saxophone at the club known as the Rooster House," explains Nick Romano. "An experimental drug caused Gren to grow breasts, and the character would become known as one of the more recognized LGBTQ depictions in anime at the time." Also joining the cast are Geoff Stults, Tamara Tunie, Rachel House, Ann Truong and Hoa Xuande.
