The Atlanta star and Fleabag vet will star in and executive produce a TV series reboot of the 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie action comedy film, which Simon Kinberg wrote and Doug Liman directed, about a bored upper middle class married couple surprised to learn that they are assassins belonging to competing agencies. Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke announced the news by posting a video of Glover and Waller-Bridge on Instagram. The duo are creating Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Seven Seconds, The First and Fargo writer Francesca Sloane. “Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world," Salke said in a statement. "It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency.” Mr. & Mrs. Smith expands Waller-Bridge's relationship with Amazon after winning three Emmys for Fleabag. Glover previously starred in Amazon's musical film Guava Island. ALSO: Watch Donald Glover's tribute to Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the 2019 BAFTA Britannia Awards.
