Comedy Central International has announced Drunk History: Black Stories, a British-based digital series that will tell stories from across the African Diaspora, including little-known tales from the continent of Africa, the Caribbean and the US. British rapper/actor and producer Rapman will host Drunk History: Black Stories, which will shine a spotlight on historical figures like Len Johnson, a UK boxer denied the chance to compete for a championship in Great Britain because of the color bar; the "Sons of Africa," an 18th century abolitionist group in Britain that campaigned to end the African slave trade; and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the African-American musician who is considered by many to be the "Godmother of Rock N' Roll." "We really wanted to take the platform, which is popular, it's a recognized platform and use it as a model to celebrate these histories," executive producer Collins Harris told CNN. "You know we're really raising a glass to folks who deserve to be acknowledged." Drunk History: Black Stories will be available on Comedy Central UK's YouTube channel starting on April 15.
