McDermott tonight takes over as lead of Dick Wolf's FBI: Most Wanted, succeeding Julian McMahon with the role of Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott. “I’ve been playing more questionable people for a while,” the 60-year-old actor told The New York Times of his stint as a crime boss on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. “And now, to play someone who’s more heroic and is a good person is necessary, because you can overstay your welcome as a bad guy.” In a separate interview with Deadline, McDermott added: “I think it’s really interesting. I’ve been reading comments online and people are saying, ‘It’s too soon. He’s Richard Wheatley, a bad guy.’ I relish in that because it’s amazing that people believe that I’m the character I’m playing. Now they’re going to see me in a completely different light, going from Richard Wheatley to Remy Scott, two wildly different people with wildly different agendas in life.”
