CNN found eight people connected to House of Cards who spoke anonymously about Spacey and the alleged “toxic” work environment he created on the Netflix set, including a former production assistant who alleged that Spacey sexually assaulted him. According to CNN Money’s Choe Melas, “the former production assistant, whose account has never previously been disclosed, told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him during one of the show's early seasons. All eight people, each of whom spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity for fear of professional repercussions for speaking out, described Spacey's behavior as ‘predatory,’ saying it included nonconsensual touching and crude comments and targeted production staffers who were typically young and male.” Netflix said it “was just made aware of one incident, five years ago, that we were informed was resolved swiftly," but is unaware of any other incidents. Producer Media Rights Capital, meanwhile, says it has implemented "an anonymous complaint hotline, crisis counselors, and sexual harassment legal advisors for the crew."
