HBO Max has ordered Love and Death from Kelley, who will produce along with Nicole Kidman and director Lesli Linka Glatter. In Love and Death, Olsen will play real-life Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who murdered her friend from church, Betty Gore, with an axe in 1980. The limited series is based on the book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs and a collection of articles from Texas Monthly. This is the second Candy Montgomery series announced in the last year. Last July, Universal Content Productions announced Candy, starring Elisabeth Moss as Montgomery, a limited series in development at Hulu. “This is a gripping story about the frustrations and desires of two women in a small town that culminates in a terrible act of violence,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max, adding that the streamer is "incredibly fortunate to have Elizabeth at the center of our story to bring out all the layers of Candy that make this story so unforgettable.”
