Emmys become the first major awards show to drop DVD screeners

Starting in 2020, Emmy voters will have to stream TV shows on digital platforms or watch them at special events hosted by networks and production companies. DVD screeners have been a key part of Emmy and Oscar campaigning for the past two decades, but the TV Academy found them to be too costly and environmentally unfriendly.
