Eccleston, who played the Ninth Doctor during the first series of the Doctor Who revival in 2005, explained to Radio Times why he was the Doctor for only lasted one season: “My relationship with my three immediate superiors – the showrunner (Russell T Davies), the producer and co-producer – broke down irreparably during the first block of filming and it never recovered,” he said.
