Fox News apologizes on air for implying praying Philadelphia Eagles players were kneeling for the National Anthem

  • Fox News sent two tweets on Tuesday apologizing for a segment that implied that Eagles players on their knees in prayer were protesting the National Anthem, when nobody from the Eagles knelt during the anthem last season. In response, Eagles player Chris Long called out Fox News for not apologizing on air. "Fox News used the faith of Christian men dishonestly to push an agenda," he tweeted Tuesday. "That wasn’t an 'error,' but intentional and strategic. They’ve deleted the segment + apologized on twitter, but many viewers don’t have twitter. An on air apology to all Christians would be the classy move." Last night, Fox News' formally apologized on air for the footage shown the night before. “Last night during our report about the president canceling the Philadelphia Eagles trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer,” Shannon Bream said Tuesday night on her Fox primetime show, adding: “We sincerely apologize for the error.”
