Fox and the TV Academy may follow in the footsteps of this year's 91st Academy Awards and go host-less with this year's ceremony. "The possibility of a host-less Emmys is among the leading options being considered by Fox and the Television Academy as it preps for this year’s telecast," reports Variety's Michael Schneider. "With just three months until the telecast and no host yet named, insiders confirm that the Emmys may go without one for the first time since 2003 (when the show also aired on Fox). But they also caution that nothing has been decided, and the perfect host may still come along and be hired." Since Fox -- which hosts the Emmys every four years -- is the only major network without a late-night franchise, it has had to think outside the box for its Emmys hosts. In 2015, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg was selected as Emmys host, but Samberg's show is now on NBC. In 2011, Fox tapped Glee star Jane Lynch as host, while American Idol's Ryan Seacrest helmed the ceremony in 2007 (Seacrest is now an ABC star). Last year's Emmys hosts, Michael Che and Colin Jost, were announced in April 2018, while Stephen Colbert was named 2017 Emmys host in January of that year. Before 2003, the Emmys went without a host in 1998 and 1975.
