Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling will star in a six-episode Fox "event series" airing this summer, playing heightened versions of themselves as they shop a reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210. Fox beat other networks for the rights to bring back Beverly Hills, 90210 -- which aired on Fox rom 1990 to 2000 -- because new Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier was said to be "the most passionate" about landing the revival, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "(With) respect to all the IP in our history, if we could honor it, we take the legacy of Fox very seriously, from Melrose to 90210 to 24. All of these franchises, if we could do it right and with the support of great writing, we’d take a serious look at a lot of it," Collier said at the TV press tour earlier this month. Fox released a "Guess Who's Coming Home" teaser to announce the event series. "Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation," said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. "Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA — bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters — and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210."
