The superhero series' May 30 Season 2 finale will serve as its series finale. Cloak & Dagger, starring Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph as teens from different backgrounds who come together after acquiring superpowers, was well received when it premiered in June 2018. But ratings fell 40% in Season 2, airing earlier this year. The cancelation comes days after Marvel TV's longtime head Jeph Loeb announced his exit. “We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said in a statement. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”
