Paramount Television’s six-episode adaptation of Joseph Heller’s classic novel is being shopped around to networks. Clooney will play Col. Cathcart, marking his first regular TV series gig since ER. The World War II novel was originally made into a movie in 1970, from director Mike Nichols. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Clooney is the latest movie A-lister to move to television, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts, as well as Reese Witherspoon.
