The Jane the Virgin star has decided to use the CBS TV Studios money she was given to campaign for Emmy consideration to fund a college scholarship for an undocumented high school student. Instead of using the money to pay for swag and glamorous dresses to impress Emmy voters, Rodriguez partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles to find the perfect recipient: a young woman headed to Princeton University. "FYC is a bizarre dance," Rodriguez says of the increasingly expensive For Your Consideration Emmy campaigns. "Whatever you do requires an insane amount of money." She adds: "Our show has always jumped at any opportunity to help me do something for the Latinx community. So I asked my showrunner, Jennie (Snyder Urman), if we could do something different with the money this year."
