Executive producer Barry Adelman says Gervais, who hosts the Globes Sunday for the fifth time, “is always at the top of our list for potential hosts. And so, when he’s available, we jump on it.” Adelman adds: "When Ricky hosts, you fasten your seat belt backstage. You don’t know where he’s going to go, but I think he can read the room. I think he knows what’s going on in society. And he’s a professional. Wherever he may go, it’s always an adventure for me.
