Grey's Anatomy and Station 19's season premieres are months apart: How will they maintain parallel timelines?

Grey's returns for Season 16 on Sept. 19. Station 19 Season 3 kicks off in early 2020. So how will both shows deal with continuity when they're sharing the same universe?  “We are using Grey’s to mark time on both shows," explains Krista Vernoff, who is now overseeing both shows. “When Station 19 premieres (at midseason), we’ll do a little bit of flashing back to cover the time lapse.”
