HBO Max lands the rights to Anna K, a modern Korean-American take on Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina

The forthcoming streaming service has given a pilot commitment to a TV adaptation of Jenny Lee’s upcoming YA novel. Anna K is described as Gossip Girl meets 13 Reasons Why meets Crazy Rich Asians, following a Korean-American "It" girl in Greenwich, Connecticut who is "caught between her picture-perfect, family-approved boyfriend and the guy who might just be her one true love, along with her high-flying cast of friends and family." Lee will adapt her book, serving as creator and writer of the series.
