“This is not a subjective decision,” said HBO Sports executive vice president Peter Nelson of ending boxing coverage after this year. “Our audience research informs us that boxing is no longer a determinant factor for subscribing to HBO.” Nelson met this morning with the HBO Boxing staff, including play-by-play announcer Jim Lampley and analyst Max Kellerman. HBO has broadcast many marquee boxing matches over the years, including 16 featuring Mike Tyson. HBO's last boxing match is a middleweight title fight at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 27.
