HBO orders a 30 for 30-style music documentary film series from Bill Simmons

Simmons and his The Ringer team will create six documentary films, each devoted to signature music acts, labels, albums, eras, or trends and helmed by a different director. "Been developing this concept for a longggggggggg time and it’s finally real — big opportunity for @Ringer Films!" tweeted Simmons, who helped come up with ESPN's award-winning 30 for 30 sports documentary films for ESPN.
