Holbrook died at his home in Beverly Hills on Jan. 23. While best known for his movie performances in All the President's Men, Into the Wild and Lincoln and for portraying Mark Twain on stage, Holbrook won five Emmys, including one for playing President Abraham Lincoln in the 1974 NBC miniseries Lincoln. Holbrook also recurred and served as a director on Designing Women, appearing opposite his wife Dixie Carter, who died in 2010. His Designing Women character was killed off so he could star in CBS' Evening Shade from 1990 to 1994. In the past decade, he had a recurring role on Sons of Anarchy as the father of Katey Sagal's Gemma Morrow Teller. His most recent roles were in 2017 as a guest-star on Hawaii Five-0, Bones and Grey's Anatomy.
