When Hallmark revealed it had ordered 40 "Countdown to Christmas" movies for this year, it was pointed out that none featured an LGBTQ lead. Hallmark responded that only 18 of the 40 films were announced Wednesday and the cable channel is in talks for LGBTQ inclusion in the other films. "Diversity and inclusion is a top priority for us and we look forward to making some exciting programming announcements in the coming months, including announcements about projects featuring LGBTQ storylines, characters, and actors," wrote George Zaralidis, the vice president of network program publicity at Hallmark's parent company, Crown Media Family Networks, in a statement to NBC News. "We are committed to creating a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome."
